ARCHITA PHARMACY AND CLINIC OPENS (Nov 22) The Archita Pharmacy and Clinic opened on Saturday 22nd November in Von Sternberg House. The Centre will be open three mornings a week and will eventually be relocated at the Archita Village Clinic restored building in 2015. The Foundation is grateful for the support of Mrs. Rodica Biro, Rares Cucueet and Dr. Petru Oprean in making this major contribution to the quality of life in Archita.
SECRETARY OF STATE FOR CULTURE VISITS ARCHITA (Sept 14) Mme Csilla Hegedos, Romanian Secretary of State for Culture visited Archita and had discussions with Trustees on European funding and the UNESCO International Institute for Traditional Knowledge.
AUSCHWITZ SURVIVOR VISITS ARCHITA (Sept 10) Mme Susanna Diamonstein a 92 year old survivor of Auschwitz Concentration Camp visited the Foundation with her son. Mme. Diamonstein entire family of 24 people were sent to the gas chambers of Auschwitz. Mrs Diamonstein who was 22 years of age t the time was spared by the camp guards and now lives with her family in the city of Tirgu Mures, Romania.
CENTRAL EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL (Aug 6) Some 70 participants in the Central European Film Festival visited Archita. The group visit was organised by Vladimir Sargu, CEO ADI Regiunea Tarnevelor and the Mayor of Medias. They visited the Saxon Fortified Church and after were entertained by the Foundation to a traditional Transylvanian luncheon in Von Sternberg House, followed by a conducted tour of the Saxon House and Casa Nobrega.”
THE ARCHITA MUSIC FESTIVAL (Aug 7) The Festival which is a joint venture with the Basle Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna State Opera took place in Archita on Thursday 7th August. There were three concerts, one in the fortified church, one in Von Sternberg House and the final ‘’Opera for Everyone’’ on the village green.

ARCHITA CLINIC Tirgu Mures Council have announced their approval to the funding for the Feasibility Study for the Archita Clinic. The work is well in hand, and subject to approval of the Study, the funding for the establishment of the Clinic will receive Council approval. The Study involves full architectural drawings, quantities and costings, and will require the approval to EEC Standards of the medical facilities.
PROFESSOR FRANCESCO BANDARIN RETIRES FROM UNESCO Franceso Bandarin was Director UNESCO World Heritage Centre from 2000 – 2010 and subsequently Assistant Director General for Culture. Francesco is a long-time friend and supporter of The Foundation, and was instrumental in bringing the first UNESCO World Heritage Centre Conference to Olinda, Brazil in 2004 and a key figure in our work with the late Colonel Gaddafi to establish a Protected Area for the ancient Greek colony of Cyrene at Jebel Akhdar (Green Mountain), North East of Benghazi in Libya.
